Box Score 2 Dordt College won a pair of softball games on Saturday over Nebraska Wesleyan as the Prairie Wolves season came to a close with losses of 5-2 and 12-7.
NWU finishes the year with a 14-22 overall record and a 5-15 mark in the GPAC.
Dordt College went up 2-0 in the 1st inning of game one. NWU slowly climbed back into the game.
Rachel Kubik hit a solo home run in the top of the 4th inning to cut the lead in half. In the 5th inning,
Hunter Bailey led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on a single by
Kayla Randel and would score on an error to tie the game.
The Defenders came back to score three runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and that would be the 5-2 final score.
NWU had five hits in the game, with
Kayla Randel going 2-2 with two walks to lead the offense.
Chaley Hamilton took the loss on the mound allowing five runs and seven hits with four strikeouts.
In the second game, Dordt scored at least two runs in each of the first four innings as they piled up 14 total hits.
NWU did tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the 3rd inning as the Prairie Wolves put up a four spot in the inning. Marissa Garver hit a 3-run double for the big hit of the inning.
Chaley Hamilton also had an RBI single.
Dordt then added two runs in the third and two more in the 4th to break the game open.
NWU finished with 11 hits in the second game.
Kayla Randel,
Chaley Hamilton and
Marisa Garver all had two hits to lead the Prairie Wolves.
Megan Cottier took the loss allowing nine earned runs in five innings.
