Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Briar Cliff scored a run in the top of the 11th inning and kept the Nebraska Wesleyan runner at 2nd base in the bottom of the inning as the Chargers edged the Prairie Wolves 4-3 in an 11-inning thriller in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader at Uni Place Park in Lincoln.  BCU then came back and defeated NWU 10-6 in the nightcap.

In the longest game of the season for the Prairie Wolves, NWU could not take advantage of scoring opportunities to earn the win.  With the game tied 1-1 heading into the 7th inning, NWU loaded the bases with no outs to start the inning.  A strikeout and fielder's choice kept the bases loaded with two outs for Kayla Randel. Randel blooped a ball over the first baseman's head but the second baseman made a diving catch on the foul line to end the threat.

In the 8th inning, NWU had two runners on base, but they were left stranded on a ground out to end the inning.  Neither team would score in the 9th inning forcing the international tie breaker putting a runner on 2nd base to start the inning.  Briar Cliff scored a pair of runs in their half of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.

NWU started their half of the inning with a single by Kayla Randel up the middle to score Hunter Bailey.  Randel would then score on a single by Chaley Hamilton to tie the game.  With the tying run on 3rd base with one out, NWU hit a pop up and grounded out to the pitcher to force an 11th inning.

Briar Cliff go the winning run in the 11th as the winning run score on a ground out to the pitcher who threw to first for the out while the runner scored from third as she beat the throw home.

Chaley Hamilton took the loss for NWU going all 11.0 innings and throwing 171 total pitches.  She allowed 13 hits and no earned runs while striking out three.  Randel, Rachel Kubik, Hamilton and Kassie Knauss all had two hits for all the Prairie Wolves hits.

Briar Cliff built up an 8-0 lead in the second game and never looked back.  The Chargers scored two in the second then got three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings as they looked to end the game due to the run rule.

NWU responded with an RBI double by Randel over the centerfielders head, then Kubik hit a 2-run single up the middle to make the score 8-3.  BCU extended the lead to 10-3 with two more runs in the 7th.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Prairie Wolves made one last run.  A walk and error put two on for Randel who drove in another run with a single.  Hunter Bailey and Randel would both come in to score on wild pitches to pull within four runs, but that was all they would get.

Randel finished 2-4 with two RBI in her final game at home on Senior Night.  Kubik was also 2-3 with two RBI.
