Box Score 2 On a damp and dreary night at University Place Park in Lincoln, the Doane Tigers came in to town and took two games from Nebraska Wesleyan in the GPAC home opener for the Prairie Wolves on Wednesday night (Apr. 2).
Doane won the first game 7-6, then took the night cap 9-1 in six innings due to run rule. NWU falls back to .500 overall at 9-9 moving to 1-3 in GPAC.
Nebraska Wesleyan jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first game and looked to be in control.

Rachel Kubik scored on a ground out by
Brittni Eitzmann.
Doane responded with one run in the top of the fourth and then the big blow came in the fifth inning. Nichole Diaz drove the ball down the left field line and came all the way around the bases for an inside the park home run to put Doane up 4-3. The Tigers added another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to go up 7-3.
NWU looked to make a big comeback in the bottom of the seventh. The first four batters reached base with
Rachel Kubik driving in a run with a single to right field. With the bases loaded and no outs, the Prairie Wolves struck out looking in back to back at bats. Britni Eitzmann reached on an error to allow another run to score pulling NWU within one run. With the tying run on second base, a strikeout ended the game.
Betsy Reimer led NWU going 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Doane pounded out 12 hits in the second game and exploded for five runs in the top of the third to make their lead 8-1. They scored another run in the sixth inning to end the game due to the run rule.
NWU also got out to an early lead in game two as they scored a run in the bottom of the second.
Chaley Hamilton doubled to drive in Reimer, but that would be the only run of the game. NWU finished with six hits and also committed two errors.
