Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Chaley Hamilton threw a complete game six-hit shutout in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader as Nebraska Wesleyan blanked Dakota Wesleyan 3-0 in Mitchell, S.D.  DWU held on to win the nightcap 4-3 as the teams split the doubleheader.

Kayla Randel hit a 2-run triple in the top of the third inning for the big hit of the game for the Prairie Wolves in the opener.  Hamilton helped herself with an RBI single in the sixth for the final run of the game.

Hamilton allowed six hits and struck out six batters without a walk to get the complete game win and improve to 7-4 on the year.

Randel led the NWU batters going 2-4 with two RBI at the plate.  Kassie Knauss had an extra base hit with a double for the Prairie Wolves who finished with seven total hits.

NWU jumped ahead 2-0 in the second game as they scored two runs in the first inning.  Randel walked to start the game and Hamilton hit her first career home run to put the Prairie Wolves up 2-0.  DWU responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game.

Neither team scored again until the bottom of the 5th as Halie Unger hit a solo home run for the Tigers and DWU added an unearned run to go up 4-2.

Nebraska Wesleyan looked to have pulled back within a run in the 6th inning as Betsy Reimer scored on a sac fly by Kassie Knauss.  However, it was ruled Reimer left the base early for a double play.  The next batter struck out to strand to runners on base after NWU had loaded the bases with no outs.

The Prairie Wolves put together another big threat in the top of the 7th.  Becky Bomberger singled to lead off the inning, followed by a one out single by Hunter BaileyKayla Randel drove in Bomberger with a single to make the score 4-3.  Betsy Reimer was intentionally walked to load the bases with just one out and the 3-4 batters coming up.  Rachel Kubik hit a fielders choice to the third basemen who threw out the runner at home, then Hamilton popped up to the third baseman to end the game.

NWU finished with seven hits in the game.  Reimer was 2-3 with a stolen base, while Hamilton was 1-3 with two RBI and Randel was 1-3 with an RBI.  Claire Poppe started on the mound but was knocked out after two innings.  Hamilton pitched the final four innings allowing four hits and one earned run and took the loss.

In a very quick turnaround after a late night bus trip home, the Prairie Wolves will host Mount Marty College on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
