Nebraska Wesleyan picked up a pair of victories on Friday (Mar. 28) to end their 2014 Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., on a high note.
The Prairie Wolves went 2-3 on the spring trip playing five NCAA III institutions.
On Friday, NWU defeated Concordia University (Wis.) 8-1 to open the day then came back to defeat Franklin College, 6-3. Nebraska Wesleyan won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches in the win over Concordia.
Katherine Ternent and
Natalie Cech won at No. 1 doubles,
Hannah Husmann and
Jennifer Heywood won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles while
Addie Litterick and
Courtney Harder won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. The Prairie Wolves only loss was at No. 4 singles, while NWU won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
To close out the trip, the Prairie Wolves were 6-3 winners over Franklin College despite playing without two of their regular players.
Katherine Ternent had to retire out of her match at No. 1 singles and did not compete in doubles.
Courtney Harder did not play at No. 6 singles or in doubles play. Despite the lineup changes, the Prairie Wolves won all three doubles matches and three singles matches.
Hannah Husmann and
Natalie Cech won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles,
Addie Litterick and
Jennifer Heywood were 8-0 winners at No. 2 doubles and Jamie Bridges/
Maureen Boyd won 8-4 at No. 3. In singles play, Husmann won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, Cech won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 and Litterick won 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 at No. 4 singles.
In the first three matches of the trip, the Prairie Wolves fell 9-0 to St. Thomas on March 23, dropped a 7-2 decision to Colby College on March 25 and fell 7-2 to Centre College on March 27.
