Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Slow Start For NWU Women in 102-55 Loss

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Nebraska Wesleyan didn't make their first field goal over eight minutes into the game and had just one basket in the first 15 minutes as the Prairie Wolves went on the road and suffered a 102-55 setback at Northwestern College.

NWU (1-6, 0-3 GPAC) remains winless in GPAC play and has now lost 19 straight to the Red Raiders in women's basketball, allowing over 100 points in the last three meetings.

The Prairie Wolves could not get anything going on the offensive end of the floor falling behind 19-3 early.  Bridge Bucher got a layup with 11:50 remaining for the first basket of the contest for NWU.  They were just 1-14 to start the game from the field and didn't get their next made field goal until the 4:24 mark of the first half on a 3-pointer by Alli Kalal.  By that time, the Prairie Wolves were down 46-16.  Northwestern led 56-29 at halftime as the Prairie Wolves shot 32.0 percent from the field.

Northwestern shot 61.3 percent from the field for the game as the Red Raiders had an impressive offensive performance.  Karen Ettleman led the way with 26 points, while Paige O'Neal had 20 points with eight assists.

Bridget Bucher led Nebraska Wesleyan with 17 points and seven rebounds as Felicia TeKolste added 14 points.

It won't get any easier for NWU next week as they return home to face two teams ranked in the NAIA II Top five.
