Bardsley Scores Career High as NWU Snaps Losing Streak

Box Score SHERMAN, Texas -- Trey Bardsley scored a career-high 31 points to lead Nebraska Wesleyan to a 102-79 victory over Austin College on Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 30) in Sherman, Texas.  NWU snaps a five-game losing streak as the Prairie Wolves end December with their first win of the month.

Nebraska Wesleyan (3-8) made 19 3-pointers as a team, the second highest total of the year and second highest total in school history.  The Prairie Wolves had 19 of their 33 made field goals from long distance as six different players connected on trifectas.

Bardsley, who's previous high was 28 points last season, went off for 31 points as he nailed 7-16 from 3-point range.  The junior from Beatrice was 10-21 from the floor and 4-7 at the free throw line to go along with seven assists and four rebounds.

It was anything but a one-man show for the Prairie Wolves in their much needed victory.  Max Ritchie and Keithan Karn both came off the bench to have big games, hitting from long range in the first half.  Ritchie was 4-6 from 3-point distance and finished with 14 points, while Karn was 3-6 from three and had 12 total points.  Travis Giesselmann was 8-9 at the free throw line and was second on the team with 18 points.

Blake Ruiz just missed his first career double-double with nine points and eight rebounds as he was 4-5 from the field.  Nick Stine added eight rebounds and Jake Miller had seven as the Prairie Wolves had 49 total rebounds with 22 offensive boards.

NWU led 51-38 at halftime as the Prairie Wolves scored seven points in the final minute of the half to build up the double digit advantage.  Austin College got to as close as seven points with just over nine minutes to play, but they would get no closer.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to Great Plains Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a trip to Yankton, S.D., to face Mount Marty College.
