3-Point Party for Prairie Wolves in 110-97 Snyder Classic Win

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan shattered the previous school record for 3-pointers made in the game as the Prairie Wolves knocked down 23 from long range in a 110-97 victory over Simpson College in the final game of the 26th Annual Snyder Classic on Saturday night.

NWU won both games of the classic to improve their overall record to 2-3 and 45-7 all-time in the Snyder Classic.

The Prairie Wolves were on fire from 3-point range as they hit 56.1 percent for the game. NWU was 23-41 from beyond the arc and had nine different players hit 3-pointers breaking the previous record of 16 set on Jan. 2, 1996 against Chaminade University.  NWU hit 66.7 percent in the first half from long range knocking down 12-18 3-pointers to build up a 55-43 advantage.

Simpson cut the lead to nine points on three different occasions in the game, but that was as close as they could get.  The Storm went on a scoring drought of nearly three minutes to allow NWU get a 16 point lead and they never looked back.

NWU junior guard Trey Bardsley was named the Snyder Classic MVP as he had a huge night in the win.  After scoring 19 on Friday in an off shooting night, Bardsley came back with 26 points on Saturday hitting 6-10 from 3-point land.  Bardsley made the NWU offense click as he also dished out 14 assists (1 shy of the school record) for his first career double-double.  The Beatrice, Neb., native also had eight rebounds.

Bardsley was far from a one-man show for the Prairie Wolves offense.  Junior guard Keithan Karn had his offensive breakout game with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds to earn All-Tournament honors. Karn was 5-10 from 3-point range off the bench.  Max Ritchie was the third NWU player in double figures with 12 points on 4-6 from 3-point range.

NWU surpassed the 100-point mark for the third time this season and shot 52.8 percent from the field for the game.  The Prairie Wolves also had a +12 advantage on the glass with 45 rebounds compared to 33 for Simpson.

The Storm were led by Dillon Gretzky with 35 points and seven rebounds.  Simpson shot 50 percent from 3-point range and hit 14 in the game that saw 37 total 3-pointers made.

Besides Bardsley and Karn from NWU, also on the Snyder Classic All-Tournament team were Dillon Gretzky from Simpson, James Brown from Crown and Brady Syverson and Tom Fraase of Concordia.
