Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan ended a streak of three straight scoreless matches as the Prairie Wolves scored two goals to earn a 2-1 victory over Mount Marty College in GPAC men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 28) in Yankton, S.D.
It was the first conference win for the Prairie Wolves as they improve to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in GPAC action. The Lancers fall to 3-7 and 0-3 in GPAC.
NWU wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as
Alex Thorson scored a goal in the fourth minute off an assist from
Wesley Smith. Thorson's goal came just 4:48 into the match. The 1-0 score would last until halftime.
Early in the second half, Nebraska Wesleyan added their second goal of the match as
Kyle Jisa scored in the 54th minute. Jisa's goal was at the 54:48 mark to put the Prairie Wolves up 2-0.
Mount Marty did get a goal in the 76th minute on a goal by Ludwin Arana, but that was all they would get as the Prairie Wolves got the win.
For the Prairie Wolves, it was their first match in eight days as they had not played since Sept. 20.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns home for a pair of matches this week as they host Doane College on Wednesday night and Northwestern College on Saturday afternoon.
