Box Score Tukker Bogaard scored a goal in the third minute of the second overtime as Northwestern College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University, 3-2, in GPAC men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 5) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.
The heartbreaking loss drops NWU to 3-6-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while Northwestern improves to 6-5-1, 2-1-1 GPAC.
Nebraska Wesleyan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as
Alex Thorson scored a goal for the Prairie Wolves in the 12th minute of action. Thorson found the goal off an assist from
Kyle Jisa.
Less than five minutes later, Ryan Johnson answered back for the Red Raiders as he scored a goal to make the score 1-1 at halftime.
Johnson got his second goal of the match in the 59th minute to put the Red Raiders ahead 2-1 midway into the second half.
NWU came back to tie up the match with less than 10 minutes to play as
Michael Wagner scored a goal at the 80:31 mark making the score 2-2. The match would end in regulation tied at 2-2.
Only one shot attempt was taken in the first overtime period so the teams would play another 10 minutes. In the second OT period, Bogaard got the game-winner for the Red Raiders.
