Box Score
Nebraska Wesleyan completed the season sweep of Concordia in a volleyball as they took down the Bulldogs 3-0 in a hard fought GPAC match. NWU won in scores 26-24, 25-23, 25-20.
With the win, NWU moves to 18-6 overall and 8-4 in GPAC play and they defeated Concordia for the second time this season.
The two teams traded blows in set one as the largest lead of the set was by Concordia at 13-9. The Bulldogs led set one up until 22-21 when
Alyssa Stanek got a kill to tie up the set. Two errors from Concordia gave NWU set point at 24-23, but the Bulldogs got a kill from Paige Getz to extend the match.
Katelyn Walsh and
Alexa Rosenau each pounded out kills to give NWU the 26-24 set one victory.
More of the same came in the second set with neither team able to get separation. Nebraska Wesleyan led the entire way, until the Bulldogs were able to get two straight kills to lead 17-16. That would be their only lead of the set. A kill from Stanek set up set point and once again Rosenau would deliver the match winner.
NWU left little doubt in the third set as they jumped ahead 5-1 and never looked back. The Prairie Wolves extended the lead out to nine points at 18-9, before Concordia mounted a small comeback. The Bulldogs got within four points, but that was not enough as a service error ended the match.
Katelyn Walsh led the way for NWU with 12 kills, while Mallory Dahl and
Alyssa Stanek each had 10 kills. Dahl and Stanek combined for just one attack error in the match and NWU finished with a team hitting percentage of .248.
Concordia was led by Paige Getz with 15 kills.
NWU has an important weekend conference road trip this upcoming weekend. The Prairie Wolves take on GPAC leader Northwestern on Friday, then have a match with Mount Marty College on Saturday afternoon.
