Jim Wiedie enters his second season as the head coach of the Nebraska Wesleyan women’s basketball program in 2025, bringing with him 33 years of coaching experience, including 19 years as a successful NCAA Division I and II head coach. Wiedie has an impressive career record of 311-249 (55.5%).
In his first season, the black and gold scored more than they have previously and capitalized on two wins following their 0-21 season before Jim Wiedie. They also defeated Buena Vista University for the first time since 2023
Before joining Nebraska Wesleyan, Wiedie served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he focused on recruiting, player development, and game strategy. His extensive experience includes significant tenures at both the University of Findlay and Indiana State University, where he became the all-time winningest coach at each program.
At the University of Findlay, Wiedie compiled a 143-107 (57.2%) record, becoming the all-time winningest coach in the school’s Division II history. He also achieved tremendous success as the head coach at Indiana State University, posting a 166-119 (58.2%) record and leading the team to new heights. Wiedie was twice named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year and earned WBCA Region VI Coach of the Year honors in 2006.
Over his 19 years as a head coach, Wiedie has mentored 27 All-Conference players and 18 1,000-point scorers.
