Northfield, MN – Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball closed out the weekend with a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating the University of Minnesota Morris in four sets before sweeping Martin Luther College to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record.
The Prairie Wolves opened the day with a 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 25-14 victory over Minnesota Morris. Nebraska Wesleyan won the first two sets before the Cougars extended the match with a third-set win. The Prairie Wolves responded with a dominant fourth set, holding Minnesota Morris to just 14 points to secure the victory.
Macy Plucker led the offense with 20 kills while hitting .459.
Ella Foote added 11 kills on a .381 hitting percentage, and
Jera Schuerman contributed 10 kills.
Mikyna Stoppkotte anchored the net defense with one solo block and four block assists as Nebraska Wesleyan finished with eight team blocks.
Grayson Piening recorded a match-high 26 digs, while setter
Elecea Saathoff dished out 40 assists and added 11 digs. The Prairie Wolves totaled 50 kills, 48 assists, and 61 digs in the win.
In the second match of the day, Nebraska Wesleyan battled to a 28-26 first-set victory before taking control with 25-16 wins in each of the final two sets to complete the sweep of Martin Luther.
Foote paced the Prairie Wolves with a match-high 15 kills while hitting an efficient .583.
Molly Ramirez added 11 kills, while Plucker and Schuerman chipped in seven apiece. Saathoff directed the offense with 37 of the team's 43 assists as Nebraska Wesleyan finished with 46 kills.
Defensively, the Prairie Wolves limited Martin Luther to a .043 hitting percentage while recording four team blocks and 77 digs. Four Nebraska Wesleyan players reached double figures in digs, led by Piening's 14. Ramirez and Saathoff each tallied 12 digs, while Plucker added 10.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday when it hosts College of Saint Mary at 7 p.m. in Lincoln.
