SHERMAN, Tex. - Nebraska Wesleyan University women's soccer dropped its non-conference matchup on Saturday, 3-0 at Austin College. The Prairie Wolves fell behind early and could not muster enough offensive opportunities to match the Kangaroos, who scored twice in the first half to pull away.
Austin College junior Laney Lambert opened the scoring with an assisted goal in the eighth minute. She drove the ball past sophomore goalkeeper Cassidy Hofstetter.
Senior Lexi Jantzen had a chance to knot things at 1 in the 10th minute, but Austin's goalkeeper Meela Stubbs made the first of her three saves in the match.
Layla Mireles doubled the Austin lead in the 35th minute. She was able to beat Hofstetter inside the post.
The Kangaroos outshot Nebraska Wesleyan 10-5 in the first half, but Hofstetter came up with one saves and the Prairie Wolves defense kept the rest from reaching her.
Austin netted another in the second half, making it 3-0.
The Prairie Wolves will travel to Dakota State in their last non-conference game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.
