Madison, SD – Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer earned a 2-0 road victory over Dakota State on Saturday evening behind an own goal and a score from
Shelbee Daffer. The match marked the Prairie Wolves' final non-conference contest before opening American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first half, Nebraska Wesleyan broke through in the 59th minute.
Faith Forehand's free kick from just outside the 18-yard box struck the crossbar, and the rebound was inadvertently knocked into the net by a Dakota State defender, giving the Prairie Wolves a 1-0 lead.
Nebraska Wesleyan added an insurance goal in the 77th minute.
Hannah Churchill played a through ball to Daffer, who finished past the Trojan goalkeeper to double the advantage and seal the 2-0 result.
Dakota State held a 22-15 edge in total shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Prairie Wolves were more efficient in front of goal, finishing with a 9-6 advantage in shots on target.

Amber Pyle and the Nebraska Wesleyan defense held the Trojans off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes to secure the shutout.
With the win, Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 3-5-1 on the season. The Prairie Wolves begin conference play on Wednesday with a trip to Pella, Iowa, to face Central College.
