LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team (3-4-1) suffered a 1-0 setback against No. 22 Colorado College (5-1-1) on Friday night at Abel Stadium. The Prairie Wolves totaled five shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
Nebraska Wesleyan goalkeeper Christian Lindseth was tested early as Colorado College put its first shot on goal in the fourth minute. Lindseth made the save to keep the Tigers off the board.
Lindseth made three saves in the opening half, including a stop on a shot from Arlo Sollinger in the 17th minute. The Prairie Wolves generated pressure of their own, with Caden Carpenter forcing Colorado College goalkeeper Spencer Besselaar into a save on a one-on-one opportunity in the 41st minute.
Colorado College broke the scoreless tie in the 73rd minute when Whit Hynes scored at the 72:39 mark. The Tigers held the 1-0 advantage for the remainder of the match.
Nebraska Wesleyan continued to pressure the Colorado College defense late, putting four shots on goal in the final 18 minutes, but Besselaar turned each one away to preserve the shutout.
Owen Glogowski led the Prairie Wolves with three shots. Max Matthies, Wil Tobaben, Reef Rohrs, Caden Carpenter and Franklyn Herasme each recorded a shot on goal. Lindseth finished with four saves.
Nebraska Wesleyan will have a week off before returning to action against Division I Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Caniglia Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT in Omaha.
