ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer (2-4-1) fell to Augustana (3-2-2) Saturday afternoon at Thorson-Lucken Field by a score of 3-1.
The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when Skylar Swanson scored her second goal of the season, with Abigail Gavigan providing the assist. Kristen Getz made it 2-0 in the 16th minute off an assist from Ximena Osorio-Rodriguez, and Swanson added an unassisted goal in the 26th minute for a 3-0 advantage. Augustana carried that lead into halftime and finished the first half with a 10-6 edge in shots.
Nebraska Wesleyan responded in the second half, outshooting the Vikings 8-3 over the final 45 minutes. The Prairie Wolves broke through in the 75th minute when Emily Jasa scored her first goal of the season. Avah Berlin provided the assist.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished with a 14-13 advantage in total shots and put eight attempts on target compared to six for Augustana. Prairie Wolves goalkeeper Catthi Pham made three saves in 90 minutes of action. Augustana goalkeepers Sara Schinker and Lainey Lajoie combined for seven saves.
The Prairie Wolves held 57 percent of the possession and earned six corner kicks to Augustana's four. Nebraska Wesleyan was whistled for six fouls compared to nine for the Vikings.
Jasa led Nebraska Wesleyan with one goal and two shots, both on target, while Berlin recorded the team's lone assist. Emma Parker, Lexi Jantzen and Faith Forehand each recorded two shots. Izzy Rushing, Hannah Churchill, Shelbee Daffer, Ava Reed, Ciara Whitley and Berlyn Parker each added one shot, with Rushing, Churchill, Daffer, Whitley and Jantzen among the Prairie Wolves to put attempts on target.
The loss moves Nebraska Wesleyan's record to 2-4-1 overall.
Nebraska Wesleyan will return to action at Austin College on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Sherman, Texas.
