Des Moines, IA – Nebraska Wesleyan cross country traveled to Des Moines on Saturday morning to compete at the Grand View Viking Invitational. The women's 6,000-meter race began at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 11:15 a.m.

In the first race of the day, the Prairie Wolf women placed sixth as a team. Junior Kari Mathsen led Nebraska Wesleyan with a 29th-place finish in a time of 25:19.34. Aubrey Kipper and Ella Herberg were the next two Prairie Wolves across the finish line, placing 42nd in 25:54.45 and 47th in 26:06.10, respectively. Mira Comstock and Kelsey Van Waart rounded out the scoring lineup. Comstock finished 50th in 26:16.96, while Van Waart placed 52nd in 26:20.50.

Noah Thomas and Conner Ross paced the Prairie Wolves to a second-place team finish in the men's race. Thomas crossed the line 14th in 27:39.43, while Ross was close behind in 16th with a time of 27:44.43. Dylan Lender placed 21st in 27:59.94, Kyle Finney finished 25th in 28:19.73, and Thomas Vasquez rounded out the scoring lineup with a 30th-place finish in 28:29.48. The Prairie Wolves totaled 63 team points to place second overall, finishing behind fellow American Rivers Conference member Wartburg.

Nebraska Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, October 3, when both teams compete at the Running of the Cows in Northfield, Minnesota.
