MELBOURNE, Fla. — Nebraska Wesleyan swept a doubleheader Thursday at the Space Coast Spring Games, defeating Wilmington College 4-2 and Wisconsin Lutheran 5-3 to improve to 7-5 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Nebraska Wesleyan 4, Wilmington 2
The Prairie Wolves used a complete-game performance from
Eva Fahrnbruch to take the opener. Fahrnbruch scattered nine hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking two while holding the Quakers to a pair of runs.
Taylor Korecky and
Stella Campin each drove in a run for Nebraska Wesleyan, which added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings to put the game away.
Game 2: Nebraska Wesleyan 5, Wisconsin Lutheran 3
The nightcap required more resolve. Wisconsin Lutheran built a 3-1 lead through three innings before Nebraska Wesleyan began chipping away. The Prairie Wolves tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Stella Campin, then seized control with a two-run fifth inning to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Jaedyn Ratzlaff earned the win in game two, allowing three runs, two earned, over a complete-game seven innings. Jenna Kimberling went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the victory. Nebraska Wesleyan out-hit Wisconsin Lutheran 14-5 in the nightcap and 23-14 across the doubleheader.
