Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer was defeated by #24 Loras College, 6-0, Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped NWU's record to 2-4-2, and 0-1 in the American Rivers Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half: Loras caught fire early, scoring two goals in the first three minutes. The Duhawks sought to extend their lead in the fifth and 18th minutes but
Jena Schultz made two key saves to keep the score 2-0. Looking to shift the momentum, NWU pushed forward as
Bella Stermer and
Averie Hike each fired shots, including Hike's chance on goal off a corner, but neither could break through for a goal. The Duhawks retook control of the half from there, outshooting NWU 6-0 over the final 18 minutes.
2nd Half: Loras continued to attack on offensive, scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half to go ahead 4-0. Less than eight minutes later in the 65th minute Loras extended their lead to 5-0. The Duhawks would tack on another in the 68th minute. While Loras wouldn't score during the remaining 22 minutes, the Duhawks held a dominating 14-0 advantage in shot attempts.
