MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan (1-3-2) faced a tough challenge on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as they fell to Augustana College (Ill.) by a narrow margin of 1-0 in a neutral site game at Cornell College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Prairie Wolves created some early chances, with freshman Emily Abeyta and Nella Castaneda both taking shots that tested the Augustana defense. Despite their efforts, the first half ended in a stalemate at 0-0.
After the break, Nebraska Wesleyan continued to apply pressure, with Lexi Jantzen making a strong push in the 71st minute. However, it was Augustana who found the back of the net first, scoring the only goal of the match in the same minute, which proved to be the decisive moment.
Senior goalkeeper Jena Schultz had a standout performance, recording 7 saves throughout the match to keep her team in contention.
