COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Nebraska Wesleyan (0-0-1) opened its 2025 men's soccer season Friday with a 1-1 draw against Saint John's (0-0-1) at Haws Field.
Franklyn Herasme scored in the 61st minute, his first goal of the season and second of his career, to pull the Prairie Wolves even.
Owen Glogowski earned the assist, the third of his career. Senior goalkeeper
Graedon Hilton made three saves in net.
The match carried added storylines as the Johnnies are led by head coach Tudor Flintman, who guided both the NWU men's and women's programs from 2015–2017, and assistant coach Kevin Lebahn, NWU's women's head coach the past two seasons.
NWU is now 2-6-1 all-time against the Johnnies.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Saint John's struck first in the 14th minute as Ronan O'Connor found the net off a feed from James Torguson. NWU generated three shots and earned three corner kicks but could not find the equalizer before halftime. The Prairie Wolves committed six fouls in the half while holding the Johnnies to five shots.
Second Half
Nebraska Wesleyan controlled more of the attack in the second half, nearly outshouting the Johnnies and drawing two corners. Herasme's goal in the 61st minute leveled the score at 1-1.Hilton kept the match even with three saves, including two in the final 25 minutes.
