DECORAH, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan wrapped up the regular season with a 14-2 loss at Luther on Saturday, completing a three-game sweep for the Norse. Despite the result, the Prairie Wolves (21-19, 10-14 A-R-C) locked in the No. 6 seed for next week's A-R-C Tournament, where they'll get another shot at Luther in the opening round.
How It Happened
Luther's offense struck early, plating eight runs in the second inning and four in the third. NWU responded in the third when Easton Johnson drilled a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 12-1. But the Norse pulled away with a two-run fourth, capitalizing on timely hitting.
Owen Duckworth provided a bright spot for the Prairie Wolves, getting an RBI in his only at bat of the day.—his third of the season. Aaron Chazin finished 1-for-2, extending his hitting streak to four games.
Luther's lineup proved relentless, tallying 16 hits.
Up Next
The Prairie Wolves return to action in Cedar Rapids on Thursday (11 a.m.) for the A-R-C Tournament opener, a rematch with Luther. The game will be played at Mount Mercy University. NWU will look to flip the script after dropping all three regular-season meetings with the Norse.
