Prairie Wolves Come Up Empty on Friday in Decorah

DECORAH, Iowa — Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball dropped both games of a Friday doubleheader to Luther College, falling 13–3 in eight innings in game one and 7–4 in game two. The Prairie Wolves were out-hit 19–15 and struggled to capitalize on scoring chances, slipping to 21-18 overall and 10–13 in A-R-C play.

Game One: Luther 13, NWU 3 (8 Innings)

How It Happened:
Luther jumped on the board early and never let up. NWU starter Owen Duckworth gave up four earned runs across 2.1 innings, and Luther tagged the Prairie Wolves' bullpen for six more over the next 4.2 frames.

Nebraska Wesleyan scratched three across in the third, as Tommy Fiocchi doubled and later scored on a Nick Roghair single. The Prairie Wolves scored the other two runs off a Carter Betts sacrifice fly and a Duncan Ortega RBI double.

The game ended via the A-R-C's 10-run mercy rule in the bottom of the eighth after Luther plated three in the bottom of the eighth with no outs.

Game Two: Luther 7, NWU 4

How It Happened:
NWU showed more fight in the nightcap, tying the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth after Jake Shedarowich and Nick Roghair came around to score on RBIs from Aaron Chazin and Duncan Ortega.

The Norse responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off starter Robbie Ross, who allowed seven hits and four earned in 5.1 innings of work.

After giving up two more in the sixth, the Prairie Wolves pulled within three in the seventh when Nick Roghair blasted a solo homer to center, making it 7-3. The Prairie Wolves kept battling scoring their fourth run on an RBI by Duncan Ortega.

Roghair's bat stayed hot in the ninth when he hit a one out double, but the Prairie Wolves were unable to bat him in.
