Nebraska Wesleyan Surges to Runner-Up Finish at A-R-C Championships

Prairie Wolves place three on All-Conference teams as Schram and Sander lead the charge

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan University men's golf team delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 American Rivers Conference Championship, securing a second-place finish with a three-day total of 924 (301-320-303) at Glen Oakes Country Club. The Prairie Wolves finished 21 strokes behind champion University of Dubuque (903) while outpacing Luther College (930) and Central College (931) in the nine-team field on the challenging par-71, 6,697-yard layout.

Nebraska Wesleyan placed two golfers on the All-Conference team with junior Brayden Schram and senior Geran Sander each tying for fifth place at 17-over par 230. Schram delivered consistent play with rounds of 72-84-74, bouncing back from a challenging second day to solidify his All-Conference selection.  Sander matched Schram's total with scores of 74-82-74, displaying remarkable consistency in the opening and closing rounds on the demanding Glen Oakes layout.

Junior Jackson Lapour earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors, finishing tied for 11th at 19-over par 232 (78-77-77). Lapour's steady play throughout the championship helped anchor the Prairie Wolves' lineup.

How It Happened

Nebraska Wesleyan started strong in Sunday's opening round, posting a 301 that positioned them just 11 strokes behind first-round leader University of Dubuque (290). Schram's one-over 72 led the Prairie Wolves, with Sander (74) and Lapour (78) providing solid supporting scores.

Monday's second round proved challenging for all competitors as winds gusted to 25 mph across the exposed Glen Oakes layout. NWU posted a 320, rising to the third-place position despite the difficult conditions.

In Tuesday's final round, Nebraska Wesleyan delivered under pressure with a 303, the second-best team score of the day. This strong finish secured their runner-up position as Schram and Sander each carded 74s to cement their All-Conference status.

Freshman Jaiden Ronke contributed significantly to the team's success, finishing 18th overall at 23-over par 236 (77-81-78). Sophomore Harrison Weddell rounded out the Prairie Wolves' lineup in a tie for 25th at 28-over par 241 (83-80-78).

The dramatic final round featured a key stretch on the back nine where Nebraska Wesleyan golfers played the difficult par-4 12th and par-4 13th holes at even par as a team, while other contenders struggled. This performance helped secure their runner-up finish.

The second-place finish marks Nebraska Wesleyan's third straight runner-up finish in the event. The group will look to take advantage of the momentum into next season.
