Lincoln, NE - Jackson Lapour set a new school record of 64 strokes in his final round at the Doane Spring Invitational on Tuesday. Lapour shot the low round at Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan men's golf opened its spring season with a sixth place finish at the two day Doane invite.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jaiden Ronke led the way playing as an individual for Nebraska Wesleyan on the first day of the tournament, shooting +1 and sitting in a tie for seventh as play wrapped up on a cold, windy day at Highlands Golf Course. Ronke's teammates followed close behind with Brayden Schram, Reid Styskal (individual), and Jakob Cadwallader (individual) shooting +4 on day one. Matias Casal (individual) and Jacob Cosimano sat at +5, while Jackson Lapour and Harrison Weddell checked in at +6. Travis Tilford rounded out the NWU line up with a performance of +13.
Day two of the tournament saw the Prairie Wolves level up across the score sheet with every player shooting better than they did the prior day. As a team, the play led to a two spot jump in the final standings as NWU finished the tournament in sixth place. The most drastic improvement was made by Jackson Lapour, who closed the tournament with a -6 showing to claw his way into a tie for sixth. Jaiden Ronke continued his strong performance with an even score to conclude the tournament in a tie for 10th. Matias Casal, Jacob Cosimano, Reid Styskal, Brayden Schram also showed improvement and settle for a tie at 29th. Jakob Cadwallader, Harrison Weddell, and Travis Tilford finished in 38th, 50th, and 54th.

Nebraska Wesleyan will compete at the Pine Dunes Invitational, in Frankston, Texas. The tournament will be played on Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st.
