STORM LAKE, Iowa — Nebraska Wesleyan dominated Buena Vista in an A-R-C doubleheader on Wednesday, winning 9-1 and 10-1, both in six innings. The victories marked the Prairie Wolves' first conference sweep of the season, improving their record to 23-8 (5-3 A-R-C). Head Coach Mary Yori also secured her 200th career win at NWU in the nightcap.
Game 1: NWU 9, Buena Vista 1 (6 innings)
Elise Warneke (16-4) delivered a complete-game gem, allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts. The Prairie Wolves struck early when Lyndsey Roth launched a two-run homer in the first inning, scoring Hanna Roth. NWU added three runs in the fifth, highlighted by Val Gerlach's RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Kamdyn Sprunk. Val Gerlach and Paige Davison drove in runs in the sixth to trigger the run rule.
Game 2: NWU 10, Buena Vista 1 (6 innings)
NWU's offense stayed hot, plating two runs in the first inning of the nightcap. Jenna Kimberling and Lyndsey Roth combined for seven RBIs, while Gerlach added another multi-hit game. The Prairie Wolves sealed the sweep with a six-run sixth, capped by Kimberling's home run that scored two.
Eva Fahrnbruch (6-4) earned the win, scattering four hits.
