LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan men's golf dominated its home tournament, with the NWU "B" Team capturing first place (+30) and the "A" Team finishing second (+33) at the Howl at the Hill Invitational at Hillcrest Country Club. The Prairie Wolves' depth shined, with both squads besting the other five competing programs, including Iowa Western, Doane and Concordia (MN).
How It Happened
Day One
The "B" Team opened with a 304 (+16), led by Travis Tilford (74, +2) and Nate Vickery (74, +2), who both carded steady rounds on Hillcrest's challenging layout. Brayden Schram (77, +5) and Teddy Peterson (79, +7) rounded out the scoring, giving NWU a three-stroke cushion over Concordia (MN).
Meanwhile, the "A" Team posted 310 (+22), paced by Geran Sander (76, +4) and Harrison Weddell (77, +5). A strong back-nine rally from Jackson Lapour (79, +7) kept NWU in striking distance.
Day Two
The "B" Team locked up the title with at 302 (+14), fueled by Schram's 74 (+2) and Matias Casal's 75 (+3). Tilford (76, +4) and Vickery (77, +5) provided consistency, securing a three-stroke victory over their own "A" squad.
Not to be outdone, the "A" Team fired the second lowest round of the event (299, +11) behind Lapour's 73 (+1) and Sander's 74 (+2). Weddell (75, +3) and Jaiden Ronke (77, +5) closed strong, ensuring a 1-2 NWU finish.
