OWATONNA, Minn. – Nebraska Wesleyan's men's and women's tennis teams bounced back in emphatic fashion Sunday, sweeping Bethany Lutheran 7-0 in both matches at the West Hills Indoor Courts in Owatonna, Minnesota. Neither team dropped a set on the day.
Women's Tennis: Nebraska Wesleyan 7, Bethany Lutheran 0
The Prairie Wolves women set the tone early, sweeping all six singles matches and all three doubles matches. Anna Burt led the way at No. 1 singles, defeating Sailor Mohlenbrock 6-0, 6-3. Ella Ford followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while Crystal Craft and Caitlin Hudson both delivered victories at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Parker Brown and Gracey Smith rounded out the singles sweep with wins at No. 5 and No. 6.
In doubles, Burt and Ford teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1, while Craft and Hudson dominated 6-0 at No. 2. Brown and Smith completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3. The Prairie Wolves' women's team displayed relentless consistency, dropping only 11 games across all six singles matches.
Men's Tennis: Nebraska Wesleyan 7, Bethany Lutheran 0
The men's team mirrored the women's dominance, winning every contested match without dropping a single set. Jacob Balfany set the tone at No. 1 singles, defeating Ezra Greenman 6-0, 6-1. Gavin Nichols, Tyler Blair, and Glenn McChristian followed with identical 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles, respectively. Bethany Lutheran forfeited the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches, giving Ian Ambrust and Connor Kelley wins by default.
In doubles, Balfany and Sam Rademacher cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 1, while Nichols and Ian Ambrust matched that score at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match was also forfeited by Bethany Lutheran, securing the sweep for the Prairie Wolves.
On Deck:
Both teams return to action next week with a home match against Doane. Matches are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at the LSF Sports Complex.
