Nebraska Wesleyan Powers Past Loras for First Win at Sandhills Global Youth Complex

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball bounced back in emphatic fashion Sunday, securing their first win at the brand-new Sandhills Global Youth Complex with a 14-5 victory over Loras. After dropping the first two games of the series, the Prairie Wolves (11-3, 1-2 A-R-C) exploded for 16 hits, including two home runs from Easton Johnson, to avoid the sweep and claim their first conference win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Loras (12-6, 2-1) struck first in the top of the first inning when they launched a solo home run to right field on the third pitch of the game. But the Prairie Wolves responded immediately, scoring two runs in the bottom of the frame. Johnson delivered the big blow with a two-run homer, giving Nebraska Wesleyan their first lead of the series.

The Duhawks briefly regained the lead in the fifth inning hitting a two-run homer, making it 5-4. However, the Prairie Wolves answered with a five-run bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double from Jake Gerardis and a two-run double from Tommy Fiocchi. Johnson added his second homer of the day in the seventh, a three-run shot to right center, putting the game out of reach.

Nebraska Wesleyan's offense was relentless, with six players recording multiple hits. Johnson finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Fiocchi, Gerardis and Jake Shedarowich each drove in two runs. The Prairie Wolves also showcased their speed, stealing five bases, including two from Brady Bell.

On the mound, Tyler Spreitzer continued to shine in relief, tossing four scoreless innings to secure the win. Starter Trevor Storer (2-0) earned the victory, allowing five runs over five innings, while Spreitzer notched his second save of the season.

Nebraska Wesleyan's offense came alive at the perfect time, avoiding a sweep and securing their first win at their new home field. The Prairie Wolves will look to build on this momentum as they continue conference play next weekend.
