MELBOURNE, Fla. – Nebraska Wesleyan Softball closed out its Florida trip in dominant fashion Saturday, sweeping Grinnell College (4-2) and the University of Hartford (4-0) at the Space Coast Games. The Prairie Wolves finish their spring break slate with a 13-3 record, marking their best 16-game start since 2011.
GAME 1: Nebraska Wesleyan 4, Grinnell College 2
Nebraska Wesleyan struck early and never looked back in the opener. Jenna Kimberling drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to put the Prairie Wolves on the board. Hanna Roth extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with a sacrifice bunt, scoring Kenzie Heedum.
Grinnell put a run on the board in the top of the fourth, but Nebraska Wesleyan responded in the bottom half. Paige Davison delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1. Each team would put one more run on the board to get to the final of 4-2.
Elise Warneke earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with four strikeouts while allowing just two runs on six hits. The defense was flawless, committing no errors, and Kimberling anchored the infield with 10 chances at shortstop.
GAME 2: Nebraska Wesleyan 4, University of Hartford 0
Warneke was lights-out in the nightcap, throwing a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. The graduate right-hander retired 21 of the 24 batters she faced, capping a stellar day in the circle.
The Prairie Wolves broke through in the second inning, capitalizing on a Hartford error to take a 1-0 lead. Kimberling added a sacrifice fly in the third, and Nebraska Wesleyan tacked on two more runs in the fifth.
The offense was balanced, with five players recording hits. Eva Fahrnbruch and Hanna Roth each stole two bases, part of a five-steal effort that kept Hartford's defense on its heels.

- Nebraska Wesleyan's 13-3 start is the best since 2011 through 16 games.
- The Prairie Wolves committed zero errors in both games.
- Warneke's one-hit shutout was her third complete-game shutout of the season.
