MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team split a pair of games on Monday at the Space Coast Spring Games, defeating Monmouth College 10-0 in five innings before falling to Marietta College 7-2 in the second contest.
Game 1: Nebraska Wesleyan 10, Monmouth 0 (5 innings)
The Prairie Wolves dominated from the start, securing a run-rule victory over Monmouth. Nebraska Wesleyan broke open the game in the third inning when Val Gerlach singled to drive in the first run. The floodgates opened in the fourth inning as NWU scored five runs on two hits, highlighted by a two-run single from Kamdyn Sprunk and a two-run single from Addi Duranski.
Elise Warneke was stellar in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just three hits and struck out five while walking one. Offensively, Sprunk, Gerlach, and Jenna Kimberling each collected two hits, with Sprunk leading the way with three RBIs. NWU's patience at the plate paid off, as the team drew seven walks, including two each from Gerlach and Lyndsey Roth. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves were flawless, committing no errors.
Game 2: Marietta 7, Nebraska Wesleyan 2
Despite nearly outhitting Marietta, Nebraska Wesleyan couldn't overcome early defensive miscues. Marietta capitalized on an NWU error in the second inning, scoring five runs to take control of the game. Lyndsey Roth led the Prairie Wolves with two hits, while Kamdyn Sprunk and Taylor Korecky each drove in a run.
Eva Fahrnbruch started in the circle for NWU, allowing six runs (one earned) over 4.2 innings. The Prairie Wolves turned one double play but couldn't overcome the early deficit.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to action on Tuesday with two more games. The Prairie Wolves will play Anna Maria College with first pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. CT. After that they will play Fitchburg State with first pitch scheduled for 3:45 p.m. CT.
