Nebraska Wesleyan to Host Central in A-R-C Championship Game

Lincoln, NE (February 28, 2025) - Following a dominant 85-53 victory over Wartburg in the A-R-C semifinal round, Nebraska Wesleyan is set to host Central for the right to go to the NCAA tournament.

Saturday's game will be played at Snyder Arena, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SEASON IN REVIEW
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday night with a 20-6 record. The Prairie Wolves have won their last three games, including a convincing 85-53 victory over Wartburg in the American Rivers Conference semifinal round. Through 26 games, Nebraska Wesleyan has scored an average of 72.2 points per game. The Prairie Wolves are led by seniors Jack Groeteke and Carter Glenn. Groeteke averages a team best 14.9 points per game, while posting 139 rebounds and 58 blocked shots. Glenn runs the point for NWU and is an all around playmaker, scoring 13.7 points per game, while dishing out 83 assists and pocketing 54 steals. Conner Brown plays a key role for the Black and Gold, bringing down a team best 5.6 rebounds per game. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan shoots 43.5% from the floor, with a 33.7% clip from beyond the arc. Nebraska Wesleyan has been effective at drawing fouls, and shoots 73.8% from the free throw line. The Prairie Wolves pride themselves on being aggressive on the glass and bring down 39 rebounds per game. The Black and Gold play an unselfish brand of basketball and have recorded 354 assists. Defensively, the Black and Gold allow 63.1 points per game, with 219 steals, and 109 blocked shots.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is in his 11th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 214-74. 

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 
 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN A-R-C TOURNAMENT NOTES

  • Nebraska Wesleyan holds three American Rivers Conference tournament titles, winning in 2018, 2019, 2020.

SCOUTING THE DUTCH
Central enters Saturday riding high off a 78-71 upset victory over Dubuque. The Dutch come to Lincoln with a record of 16-11.The Dutch score an average of 77.9 points per game, and allow an average of 73.0 points per game. Central holds a shooting percentage of 48.9, with a 36.3 mark from three. The Dutch shoot 67.1% from the free throw line. Central is led by Joe Steinkamp, in his third season.
