How It Happened
The game started with both teams jostling for position with Maddie Demke breaking a scoreless tie with a lay up at the 8:11 mark. Loras quickly responded with a 5-0 run before a Carney Black lay up cut the deficit to one. The Duhawks punched back with a three pointer, but Miranda Oesterreich quickly made the score 8-6. From there Loras took control, going on an 11-5 run to close the first quarter with a 19-11 lead.

Loras continued to roll early in the second quarter, with a Daniella Jarrell lay up putting the Duhawks up by 10. However, a Maddie Demke three pointer kick started an 8-2 run which cut Loras' lead to three. The Duhawks answered by going on a 11-4 run to close the first half with a 34-24 lead.

The Duhawks continued to push Nebraska Wesleyan early in the second half, growing their lead to 15 on a tip in with just over 5:30 remaining in the quarter. The Prairie Wolves would cut the lead to 10, courtesy of a Carney Black lay up and a Brynn Sebek three pointer. However, the Duhawks would outscore Nebraska Wesleyan 7-3 over the remaining portion of the quarter to take a 14 point lead into the final frame.
