Men's Basketball delivers a win in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Playing its final road game before Santa and his reindeer take flight, the Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team picked up a 74–64 victory over Colorado College on Saturday afternoon.

Senior forward Nick Howard led the way with a team-high 18 points, guiding Nebraska Wesleyan to its second straight win away from Snyder Arena. The Prairie Wolves shot 41.5 percent from the floor, controlled the game's tempo for long stretches, and answered every Colorado College push with poise well beyond the box score.

Nebraska Wesleyan built its lead early, played through contact, and closed with confidence, turning a competitive second half into a disciplined road win.

How It Happened

First Half
Nebraska Wesleyan wasted little time settling in, opening the game with efficient ball movement and strong interior play. Howard established himself early, scoring in rhythm and keeping the Tigers' defense honest. The Prairie Wolves shot over 41 percent in the opening half, using balanced scoring and second-chance opportunities to gradually create separation.

Defensively, NWU limited Colorado College's perimeter looks and forced contested shots late in possessions. Seth Newton controlled the glass, while the Prairie Wolves collectively stayed connected on rotations, preventing any extended Tiger run. Nebraska Wesleyan carried a 36–29 advantage into halftime after closing the period with a controlled stretch on both ends.

Second Half
Colorado College responded after the break, tightening the margin and cutting the deficit to six on multiple occasions. Each time, Nebraska Wesleyan calmly steadied itself. Cash McCullough and Devin Holmon provided timely buckets, and Newton continued to make his presence felt defensively, disrupting passing lanes and cleaning up rebounds.

The final five minutes belonged to Howard. The senior attacked the rim drawing contact and converting at the line. Nebraska Wesleyan outscored Colorado College 38–35 in the second half and sealed the win by going 7-of-9 from the free-throw line down the stretch, never allowing the Tigers to fully regain momentum.

The Prairie Wolves played the closing minutes with discipline, rebounding through traffic and forcing Colorado College into rushed shots.

McCullough finished with 13 points and six rebounds, Holmon added 11 points, and Newton recorded a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.
