ABOUTÂ THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan dropped its season opener to McPherson by a score of 77-62. The Prairie Wolves shot 34.9% from the floor against the Bulldogs, while knocking down eight of 31 three point attempts. NWU brought down 36 rebounds and dished out 13 assists. Defensively the Black and Gold had 11 steals and two blocked shots.
Brynn Sebek led the Prairie Wolf offense with 15 points, while Sophomore
Peyton Tritz contributed 12 points and three assists.
Carney Black hawked the boards with 11 rebounds while chipping in eight points. Black also played aggressive defense with three steals and one blocked shot.Â
HEAD COACH JIM WIEDIE
Jim Wiedie is in his second season as head coach in 2025. He holds an 2-24 record as the head coach at NWU. Wiedie brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. Wiedie has amassed an overall coaching record of 313-250 across 20 years as a head coach at the NCAA Division I,II, and III levels. Known for his strong player development, Wiedie looks to continue building a culture of excellence at NWU.
Before joining the Prairie Wolves, Wiedie served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha, focusing on recruiting and player development. He also holds the distinction of being the all-time winningest coach at both the University of Findlay during their Division II era and Indiana State University, leading those programs to new heights.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES
College of Saint Mary is 1-4 and was defeated by William Penn, 76-63, in their last game. The Flames average 57.4 points per game, while making 36.3 percent of their shots. CSM has made 22.4 percent of their three point shots and grabs 35.2 rebounds per game. Defensively, CSM allows 74.2 points per game. The Flames are led by Natalie Miller, in her second season.
