Prairie Wolves Open Season with Road Battle at No. 18 Wisconsin-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (November 9, 2025) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball opened the 2025–26 campaign on the road Sunday afternoon, falling 78–62 to 18th-ranked Wisconsin–Platteville at Bo Ryan Court inside Williams Fieldhouse. The Prairie Wolves connected on nine three-pointers and shot 39.2 percent from the floor in their season debut.

How It Happened

First Half:
Wisconsin–Platteville set the early tone, jumping out to an 8–3 lead before Nebraska Wesleyan found its footing. Junior guard Christian Winn buried an early three-pointer to start the scoring for NWU, and the Prairie Wolves clawed back to take a brief lead midway through the half behind threes from Winn, Neal Mosser, and Nick Howard.

After NWU grabbed a 30–29 advantage with just over two minutes remaining, the Pioneers closed the half on a 12–3 run to take a 39–33 lead into the locker room. The Prairie Wolves hit six threes in the first 20 minutes and shot 36.7 percent from the field.

Second Half:
Nebraska Wesleyan opened the second half with energy, using a 7–4 run capped by another Winn triple to trim the deficit to 43–40 with 16:03 remaining. However, the Pioneers responded with a flurry of offense from Max Love, who led all scorers with 25 points and drilled five threes. Platteville extended its lead to double digits midway through the half and kept control the rest of the way, stretching the margin to as many as 19 in the final minutes.

The Pioneers shot 45.8 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from three-point range, while also holding a narrow 34–33 edge on the glass.

Prairie Wolves Highlights

Junior guard Christian Winn led Nebraska Wesleyan with 15 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes of play. He shot 5-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-5 from long range, and added three assists and two steals.

First-year guard Neal Mosser made an immediate impact off the bench in his Prairie Wolf debut, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and hitting three triples.

Senior guard Amun-Ra Collins joined them in double figures with 11 points and two assists, while senior forward Nick Howard contributed nine points, four rebounds, and a block.

In total, 12 Prairie Wolves saw action, and four players, Mosser, Reece Carson, Vinni Veikalas, and Payson Gillespie, scored their first career points in a Prairie Wolf jersey.
