Men's Basketball to Face #18 Wisconsin-Platteville in Season Opener

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball will begin its 2025-26 season at #18 Wisconsin-Platteville on Sunday, November 9th

Tip off between Nebraska Wesleyan and UW-Platteville is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 9th. The game will be played at Bo Ryan Court, in Platteville, Wisconsin. UW-Platteville will live stream the game and carry live stats

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Riding back to back 20 win seasons and one year removed from an American Rivers Conference title, Nebraska Wesleyan seeks a return to the top of the conference in 2025. The Prairie Wolves return two starters from 2024, Christian Winn and Seth Newton. Winn averaged 8.2 points per game, while adding 78 rebounds, 38 assists, and 23 steals. Newton averaged 6.0 points per game and finished third on the team with 139 rebounds. Newton also chipped in 76 assists, 25 steals, and 11 blocks. As a team, the Prairie Wolves averaged 71.6 points per game on a 43.2 shooting percentage. The Black and Gold knocked down 220 three pointers and shot 33.2% from beyond the arc. The Black and Gold brought down 1,044 rebounds and had 365 assists. Defensively, NWU allowed 63.3 points per game, with opponents shooting 38.3% from the floor. The Prairie Wolves recorded 229 steals and blocked 114 shots.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is entering his 12th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 214-75. 

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
UW-Platteville won the WIAC in 2024, while posting a 26-3 record. The Pioneers averaged 80.4 points per game on a 47.7% shooting percentage. Defensively, UW-Platteville allowed 66.7 points per game. The Pioneers are led by Jeff Gard, in his 17th season.
