Head Coach
Jim Wiedie returns four starters from last year's squad and seeks to build upon a solid foundation that was laid during his first season. In 2024, NWU averaged 53.8 points per game on a .345 shooting clip. Defensively, the Black and Gold allowed 77.6 points per game, while opponents shot .435 from the floor.
Maddie Demke highlights Nebraska Wesleyan's returners as an emerging two way star in the American Rivers Conference. Last season, Demke averaged 8.2 points per game, while dishing out 80 assists and pocketing 53 steals. Joining Demke in the back court is
Brynn Sebek, who averaged 8.5 points per game and knocked down a team best 47 three pointers.
Carney Black returns as NWU's leading scorer at 8.6 points per game, while also leading the team with 181 rebounds. Defensively, Black recorded a team best 11 blocked shots.Â

HEAD COACH JIM WIEDIE
Jim Wiedie will enter his second season as head coach in 2025. He holds an 2-23 record as the head coach at NWU. Wiedie brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. Wiedie has amassed an overall coaching record of 313-249 across 20 years as a head coach at the NCAA Division I,II, and III levels. Known for his strong player development, Wiedie looks to continue building a culture of excellence at NWU.
Before joining the Prairie Wolves, Wiedie served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha, focusing on recruiting and player development. He also holds the distinction of being the all-time winningest coach at both the University of Findlay during their Division II era and Indiana State University, leading those programs to new heights.
SEASON OPENING HOME GAME
Saturday will mark the second consecutive season that Nebraska Wesleyan has opened the year at Snyder Arena. Overall, it will mark NWU's fifth season opening home game since joining the American Rivers Conference in 2016. In their previous four games, the Prairie Wolves have posted a 1-3 record, with their lone win being a 65-55 victory over Kansas Christian College in 2022.Â
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
McPherson enters this matchup with a 4-0 record. Prior to facing the Prairie Wolves, McPherson beat Central Christian College on Tuesday, 67-59 Thus far, the Bulldogs have averaged 76 points per game at a .385 shooting percentage. Defensively, McPherson allows 59.3 points per game. The Bulldogs are led by Alex Moorehead, in his first season.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST MCPHERSON
