Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan rode a dominant offensive attack to close its home slate with a 4-0 victory over Buena Vista, Wednesday night. The win improves NWU's record to 3-6-5 overall, and 1-3-2 in the American Rivers Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half: Nebraska Wesleyan went on the attack early in the match, firing four shots at Buena Vista's Maia Jaroch, before
Emma Parker found the back of the net to put the Black and Gold up 1-0 at the 8:36 mark. The Prairie Wolves weren't satisfied with a one goal lead as
Emily Abeyta scored to put NWU up 2-0 just over a minute later. Riding the momentum, Nebraska Wesleyan continued to press the Beaver defense with two shots in the 21st minute. Then in the 23rd minute,
Amanda Olivas scored her first goal of the season to give NWU a 3-0 edge. After NWU fired off four more shots,
Nella Castaneda capped off an electric first half with a 41st minute goal to make the score 4-0.
Second Half: While Nebraska Wesleyan failed to extend its lead further in the second half, the Prairie Wolves continued to attack, firing off eight shots in the first 15 minutes. Then the Beavers went on the attack, as
Catthi Pham made a key save to keep Buena Vista scoreless in the 66th minute. The Black and Gold answered back with six consecutive shots, before
Amber Pyle made a save in the 83rd minute. NWU would go on to preserve the shut out to secure a 4-0 victory.
