Men's Basketball Looks for Strong Finish to Road Trip Before Hosting Loras on Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 29th, 2025) - After earning a pair of road victories, Nebraska Wesleyan is set to close out its three game road trip with a game at Dubuque on Wednesday. The Prairie Wolves will then return home to host Loras on Saturday.

LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan will visit Dubuque on Wednesday, January 29th, with game time set for 7:30 p.m. Dubuque will live stream the game and carry live stats. Nebraska Wesleyan will host Loras on Saturday, February 1st, with game time set for 3:00 p.m. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan (14-4, 7-2 A-R-C) enters Wednesday night fresh off a dominant 66-44 victory over Luther on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves were led by senior duo Jack Groeteke and Carter Glenn who each finished in double figures with 16 and 13 points respectively.

Through 18 games, Nebraska Wesleyan has scored an average of 71.9 points per game. NWU spreads the ball around offensively with four players averaging over 8.5 points per game per game. The Black and Gold scored their season high 86 points during a January 11th victory over Wartburg. The Prairie Wolf offense plays with confidence, and shoots 42.9% from the floor, while posting a 34.5% clip from beyond the arc. NWU has also been effective at drawing fouls, and shoots 71.7% from the charity stripe. Nebraska Wesleyan prides itself on being physical on the boards and brings down 39.3 rebounds per game. The Prairie Wolves play an unselfish brand of basketball with 251 assists on the season.

The Black and Gold enter Wednesday allowing 64.6 points per game. The Prairie Wolves are extremely active on defense and force an average of eight steals and 4.8 blocks per game.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is in his 11th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 208-72. 

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST DUBUQUE
Wednesday will mark the 23rd meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Dubuque. The Prairie Wolves hold a 15-7 all-time series lead. The Prairie Wolves defeated the Spartans in Lincoln, 74-72, earlier this season.

SCOUTING THE DUHAWKS
Loras enters this week with a record of (12-5, 6-2 A-R-C). Prior to visiting Nebraska Wesleyan, the Duhawks will travel to Coe College on Wednesday, January 29th. The Duhawks score an average of 84.4 points per game, and allow an average of 71.8 points per game. Loras holds a shooting percentage of 49.2, with a 36.1 mark from three. The Duhawks shoot 71.8% from the free throw line. Loras is led by coach Chris Martin, in his ninth season.
