LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to Coe College, 97-43, in an American Rivers Conference match up Saturday afternoon at Snyder Arena. With the loss, the Prairie Wolves drop to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in league play, while the Kohawks improve to 13-3 and 5-3 in conference action.
How It Happened
Coe jumped on Nebraska Wesleyan early, opening up a 31-13 first quarter points on the tune of a 66.7 shooting percentage. A bright spot for the Prairie Wolves was Carney Black who finished the quarter with a team high four points. The Kohawks continued to have success in the second quarter and built their lead to 51-20 as the game headed to halftime. Nebraska Wesleyan finished the first half with a 30.76 shooting percentage, while the Kohawks shot a blistering 59.36 from the floor in the first half, which included a 50% clip from beyond the arc.
Coe removed all hope of a Prairie Wolf comeback with dominant performances on both ends of the court in the third quarter. Offensively, Coe scored 25 points on a red hot 68.75 shooting percentage, while holding the Black and Gold to just 10 points. Carney Black again was the face of NWU's offensive attack with five points. Coe would go on to outscore NWU 20-13 in the fourth quarter to secure a 97-43 win. Coe finished the game with a shooting percentage of 57.8, while Nebraska Wesleyan shot 30.6 from the floor.
