Men's Basketball Looks to Continue Winning Ways Against Central and Coe

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 13th, 2025) - After earning a dominant 86-61 victory over Wartburg on Saturday, Nebraska Wesleyan enters a busy week of conference action looking to continue its winning ways against Central and Coe.

LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan will host Central College on Wednesday, January 15th, with tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. NWU will then host Coe College on Saturday, January 18th, with tip off set for 4:00 p.m. Both game will be played at Snyder Arena, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan (11-3, 4-1 A-R-C) enters Wednesday night as winners of 9 of their last 10 games. This includes a pair of dominant victories over Simpson and Wartburg which NWU outscored by a combined total of 167-121. 

Through 14 games, Nebraska Wesleyan has scored an average of 73.4 points per game,. The Black and Gold scored their season high 86 points during last Saturday's victory over Wartburg. The Prairie Wolf offense plays with confidence, and has shot 43.4% from the floor, while posting a 35.6% clip from beyond the arc. NWU has also been effective at drawing fouls, and shoots 72.9% from the charity stripe. Nebraska Wesleyan makes a priority to crash the glass and averages 40 rebounds per game. The Prairie Wolves play an unselfish brand of basketball with 195 assists on the season.

The Black and Gold enter Wednesday allowing 65.9 points per game. The Prairie Wolves are extremely active on defense and force an average of 7.6 steals and 4.9 blocks per game.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is in his 11th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 205-71. 

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 

SCOUTING THE DUTCH
Central enters this week with a record of (8-6, 3-2 A-R-C). The Dutch score an average of 79.5 points per game, and allow an average of 73.6 points per game. Central holds a shooting percentage of 48.2, with a 36.3 mark from three. The Dutch shoot 67.3% from the free throw line. The Dutch are led by coach Joe Steinkamp, in his third season. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CENTRAL COLLEGE
Wednesday will mark the 32nd meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Central. The Prairie Wolves hold a convincing 25-6 all-time series lead.

SCOUTING THE KOHAWKS
Coe enters this week with a record of (9-5, 3-2 A-R-C). Prior to visiting Nebraska Wesleyan, the Kohawks will face Dubuque on Wednesday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m. The Kohawks score an average of 74.4 points per game, and allow an average of 69.3 points per game. Coe holds a shooting percentage of 45.3, with a 30.9 mark from three. The Kohawks shoot 70.4% from the free throw line. Coe is led by coach John Payan, in his first season. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST COE COLLEGE
Saturday will mark the 21st meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Coe, with Nebraska Wesleyan holding a 12-8 all-time series lead.
