LINCOLN, Neb. (September 8th, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer battled hard but fell 2-1 to Concordia-Moorhead in a tightly contested match at Abel Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Concordia-Moorhead struck first in the 15th minute when Emily Larsen found the back of the net on a corner kick to give the Cobbers a 1-0 lead. Despite the Prairie Wolves efforts, they went into halftime trailing by one goal.
The Prairie Wolves came out strong in the second half, equalizing in the 78th minute. Averie Hike netted her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Kimmee Davenport, bringing the match level at 1-1.
However, Concordia-Moorhead regained the lead with just 13 seconds remaining in the game. Kara Ellis scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Emily Larsen, as the Cobbers secured a dramatic 2-1 victory.
