LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University's women's tennis team faced a tough 5-2 loss against Wartburg College on Thursday, September 26. Despite strong efforts in both singles and doubles, the Prairie Wolves came up short in a tightly contested match.
In doubles action, NWU secured one victory, with Anna Burt and Gracey Smith claiming a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles . However, Wartburg took the remaining two doubles matches, giving them the edge going into singles play. Crystal Craft and Addi Duranski fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Ella Ford and Parker Brown dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 2 doubles.
The singles matches saw plenty of intense moments. Ella Ford battled hard at No. 2 singles, winning her match 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), giving NWU one of their two points. At No. 5 singles, Addi Duranski also contributed a win, taking down Brooke Bloom 7-6 (7-1), 6-1. Despite these victories, Wartburg secured wins in four other singles matches to seal the team victory.
Parker Brown fought a three-set marathon at No. 3 singles, ultimately falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. Gracey Smith also pushed her match to three sets at No. 6 singles but came up short, losing 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.
