LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University's women's tennis team faced a challenging 5-2 loss against Coe College on Friday, September 27. Despite a strong effort, the Prairie Wolves couldn't overcome the Kohawks in their matchup at the Clark Racquet Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In doubles action, NWU struggled, dropping all three matches. Anna Burt and Gracey Smith fell 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, while the No. 1 team of Crystal Craft and Addi Duranski were bested 6-2. Ella Ford and Parker Brown were defeated 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, giving Coe the edge heading into singles play.
The singles matches saw moments of promise for NWU. At No. 4 singles, Anna Burt dominated her match, winning 6-2, 6-3 to give NWU one of their two points. Addi Duranski also contributed a point with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles. However, Coe secured victories in the remaining four singles matches, sealing the win.
Parker Brown fought hard at No. 3 singles, losing a tight first set 7-5 before falling 6-2 in the second. Gracey Smith was defeated 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles, while Crystal Craft and Ella Ford fell in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
