MT. VERNON, Iowa (September 22, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer secured a 2-1 victory over Cornell College on Sunday afternoon, improving their record to 5-3-0 on the season. The Prairie Wolves started strong with two first-half goals, and their defense held firm to close out the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan struck early when Andrew Davidson opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with an unassisted goal, giving the Prairie Wolves a quick 1-0 lead. Zachary McClanathan doubled the advantage just before halftime, finding the back of the net in the 40th minute.
Cornell College cut the deficit in the 69th minute with a goal, but NWU held firm defensively for the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Zachary Weis made five saves, ensuring the Prairie Wolves held on for the win.
