LINCOLN, Neb. (September 15, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer suffered a 2-1 defeat against Elmhurst University on Sunday afternoon. The loss moves the Prairie Wolves to 3-3-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan struck first in the 4th minute when Alex Kohler netted his first goal of the season, putting the Prairie Wolves up 1-0. Elmhurst quickly fought back, and in the 34th minute, equalized with an unassisted goal. The game remained tied 1-1 heading into halftime.
Both teams traded possession throughout the second half, with Nebraska Wesleyan taking four shots and Elmhurst firing seven. In the 84th minute, the Bluejays found the game-winner, courtesy of a goal by Evan Thornton, assisted by Fernando Delgado. The Prairie Wolves pressed for an equalizer but were unable to break through Elmhurst's defense in the final minutes.
Nebraska Wesleyan tallied 16 shots, with six on target, while Elmhurst had 13 shots, eight of which were on goal. Zachary Weis made six saves for the Prairie Wolves in the loss.
