Men's Soccer Falls to Dominican University

LINCOLN, Neb. (September 14th, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer fell 3-2 to Dominican University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Dominican University came out firing, scoring the first goal of the game at the 12:59 mark. However, Nebraska Wesleyan answered right back with a goal by Caden Tubaugh at the 14:48 mark, his third of the season. After a brief lull in scoring, the Stars retook the lead with a goal in the 29th minute. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the half, and Dominican took a 2-1 lead into the locker room. The Prairie Wolves were outshot 8-3 in the first half.

The first 15 minutes of the second half saw just two total shots, one from each team. Then, Dominican broke the gridlock with a 60th-minute goal. The Stars continued to press the Prairie Wolves' defense, taking eight shots in the final 30 minutes, but Nebraska Wesleyan did not allow another goal. The Prairie Wolves also found their groove offensively, taking six shots in the final 30 minutes. The last of these was a goal by Max Matthies in the 81st minute, cutting Dominican's two-goal lead in half. However, the Stars did not allow another Prairie Wolf shot and went on to win the game 3-2.
