LINCOLN, Neb. (April 6, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to play Loras College in the first conference games of the season. The Prairie Wolves split the series, winning the first game 8-2 and losing the second game 0-1.
GAME ONEÂ
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Sami MacDonald double gave the Prairie Wolves the early lead in the first inning, bringing in one runner, 1-0.
- Freshman, Taylor Korecky homered in the second inning to advance their lead to 2-0.
- The Duhawks responded by tying up the game in the bottom of the second inning.Â
- As both team's bats cooled down for the next two innings, Amber Kosmicki resumed action with a solo blast, 3-2.
- The Black and Gold got busy in the sixth inning as Bre Schneidewind, Amber Kosmicki, and Lyndsey Roth combined for five RBIs.Â
- The mountain was too steep to climb for the Duhawks and Nebraska Wesleyan took game one of the series, 8-2.
- Elise Warneke picked up her tenth win in the pitcher's circle. Warneke gave up two runs on seven hits, while striking out four.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After three innings of scoreless softball, Loras broke the stalemate with a home run in the bottom of the third inning, 0-1.
- Nebraska Wesleyan gave themselves opportunities offensively, but were unable to execute, respectfully. The Prairie Wolves totaled four hits and left 10 runners on base.Â
- The Duhawks recorded back to back strikeouts to end the game and split the series with 0-1 victory.
- Despite the loss, Eva Fahrnbruch did her job for the Black and Gold. The freshman pitcher lasted five innings, allowing just one run on four hits.Â
- Nebraska Wesleyan's winning streak comes to an end at 11-games and they sit fifth in the always competitive American Rivers Conference.Â
